This tuesday the finalists in the Danish Final of the Diplomatico World Tournament had the opportunity to join a Q & A´s with the winner of the Danish final two years ago Rasmus Poulsgaard.
Rasmus presented one of his own creations that he made for the Diplomatico World Tournament in 2016 in the finals in Venezuela: Artful Dodger
4 cl Blanco reserva
2 cl Manzanilla sherry
1 bspn hvid creme de cacao
1 bspn creme de banana
1 knivspids salt
Among other one of the advices, that Rasmus emphasized was to keep it simple and safe meaning not to do things on stage in front of the judges, that you are not totally comfort and familiar with.
“…too many bartenders go on stage and try to impress the judges with techniques and concepts, that they never worked with before, which rarely ends well.”
“Make sure you prepare, especially if you win and go to represent Denmark in Venezuela. Don´t bring a knife to a gun fight. You want to be prepared for anything they will challenge you in.”
11 bartenders from some of the best cocktail bars in Copenhagen will be competing against each other for the victory and the trip to Venezuela to represent Denmark against bartenders from more than 20 countries for a money price of 10.000 dollars.
The final will consist of two part; round one where the bartenders will be presenting the drink the qualified with. From there 6 finalists will be chosen to present their Mantuano drink. Mantuano is the newest variation in the range of Diplomatico and is a very flavourfull aged rum ideal for cocktails.
If you haven´t got plans, feel free to join the fun and support the bartenders:
